430 Washington Road had major structural and functional issues when purchased by the current owners.  Designed by J.H. Root in 1925, the house was one of 6 homes built for summer rental and facing the main farmhouse at the center of a 5 acre parcel.  The front door faced north, on the opposite side of the house and one level up from the driveway.  With architect Harold R. Lutz & Associates the Carrises added a covered porch across the main façade to break up the scale of the original 3-story elevation  and created a new entry hall and stair between the original house and an addition.  Here you can see the second story of the addition and the original front door to the house, facing north into the rear yard.
