Lake Forest Preservation Foundation is excited to host another summer stroll at Crab Tree Farm.
Crab Tree Farm is the last operating farm located on Lake Michigan, in the State of Illinois. Originally a dairy operation, then a Yorkshire pig farm, it has had three private owners in its one-hundred plus year history.
This will be mostly a self-guided tour where you can walk at your own pace to designated QR markers. Scan to learn the important facts about the history, designers and architects which include such notables as Hugh Garden, Jens Jensen, Solon S. Beman, Peter Wirtz and John Vinci.
As an added bonus to the self guided tour of the grounds, five building interiors will be available for a walk-through including the Lodge, containing the American Arts & Crafts styled furnishings of Gustav Stickley and the Pump house. Also, a peek into the woodworking shop of Craftsman Mike Jarvi and the Silo can be had.
New this year - an old-fashioned hotdog barbecue between tours at noon. Bring your blanket and basket, we will supply the hotdogs and fixings. Enjoy a picnic on the beautiful grounds!
Select either the 10 AM or 1 PM start time. Tickets are $25 each for members or $35 each for nonmembers. Ticket sales will be limited to the first 50 people each session. This event usually sells out, so get your tickets early and enjoy the tour!
